Türkiye’s Military Factory and Shipyard Management Inc. (ASFAT) will deliver four ASBOT KN-43 patrol boats and one KN-43 search and rescue (SAR) boat to the Royal Jordanian Naval Force in 2027. The company is building all five boats at its facilities in İzmir, with the schedule published as Jordan hosts the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) 2026 in Aqaba.
Jordanian Navy Commander Colonel Hisham Khaleel Al-Jarrah and ASFAT General Manager Prof. Dr. Mustafa İlbaş signed the contract on 12 February 2026, with Istanbul Shipyard Commander Rear Admiral Recep Erdinç Yetkin attending. The boats are intended to improve the Jordanian Navy’s coastal security and patrol capabilities alongside other naval tasks.
The Jordanian boats are a stretched version of the ASBOT design, with length increased from the standard 10.2 m to 13 m to meet Jordan’s requirements. Both KN-43 configurations share the 13 m hull, with one of the five boats fitted out for search and rescue.
The baseline KN-35 measures 10.2 m by 3.2 m and reaches 40 knots on twin 250 hp outboard engines, using a twin-step planing hull built by composite vacuum infusion. It has a range of 80 nautical miles at maximum speed and 120 nautical miles at economic speed, and is classed by Turkish Lloyd.
The longer hull requires new tooling, and ASFAT expects production of the new moulds to take about eight months. Deliveries are planned in two batches of three and two boats at intervals of about 40 days, with all five handed over within 12 months.
ASFAT has built about 30 ASBOTs for various customers to date, and the new moulds indicate that the Jordanian order is the first to use the 13 m hull. The company, which is affiliated with Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defence, is carrying out the Jordanian work at its İzmir facility.
SOFEX 2026 opened in Aqaba on 27 October with 38 countries and 350 companies taking part. The first Jordanian KN-43s are due in 2027, once ASFAT completes the moulds for the 13 m hull and begins the first three-boat batch, with the SAR boat among the five units to be handed over within the 12-month delivery window.
