On 23 July 2026, Pakistan’s Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) revealed its own interceptor drone-based counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS), called P-905. The HIT P-905 consists of two core systems – i.e., the OR-503 radar system and I-402 interceptor drone.
The HIT P-905 is part of a growing portfolio of Pakistani interceptor drones being developed by both state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private sector companies alike.
In addition, the P-905 constitutes a growing catalogue of drone solutions being developed by HIT, which is also working on unmanned aerial system (UAS) platforms, such as the S-369 loitering munition, the R-040 vertical take-off-and-landing (VTOL) dual-intelligence and strike drone, and the R-020 VTOL drone.
UAS and C-UAS work is an intriguing branch-out for HIT, which primarily focuses on manufacturing the Pakistan Army’s armoured vehicles, such as the Haider main battle tank (MBT) and Hisar mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle, which headline its newest products.
However, HIT is home to a relatively strong in-house research and development (R&D) bureau called the Advanced Research, Development and Information Center (ARDIC). One of ARDIC’s mandates is to help Pakistan with indigenizing its core defence solutions via reverse-engineering and original design work. In turn, ARDIC either transfers the know-how to HIT, other SOEs, or private companies to manufacture.
