Pakistan Launches Counter-Offensive Against India

In the morning of 10 May 2025, the Pakistan Army’s (PA) press wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced that India targeted Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Bases Nur Khan (Chaklala, Rawalpindi), Murid (Chakwal), and Rafiqui (Shorkot). The ISPR added that all of the PAF’s assets were safe and that “the majority” of Indian missiles fired into Pakistan were intercepted by the air defence systems of the armed forces.

PAF Nur Khan is one of the PAF’s main air bases for supporting its logistics, auxiliary, and special mission aircraft. PAF Murid is a major hub for drone operations, being the primary facility of both domestic and foreign platforms. PAF Rafiqui is a main operating base with many of the PAF’s strike-capable Mirage III/5 combat aircraft.

Finally, ISPR stated that the PAF collected the electronic signatures of all Indian missiles fired into Pakistan, including details such as “from where they were initiated and what was targeted.” It added that the ‘few’ Indian missiles that “sneaked in” have “not been able to cause any damage.”

Pakistani state broadcaster announced that the Pakistani armed forces’ counter-attack is underway as “Operation Bunyan ul Marsoos.” DG ISPR confirmed that the Pakistan Army (PA) and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) are involved in the operation, which is being aimed at the bases that had initiated the offensive operations against Pakistan on 06 May.

The PA has fired the Fatah-I surface-to-surface missiles (SSM) across the border; the Fatah-I has a range of 140 km.

Pakistan’s state-owned broadcaster, PTV is claiming that the country’s armed forces successfully struck and destroyed a number of targets in India, including:

  • A Brahmos supersonic-cruising missile (SSCM) storage facility in Beas region.
  • KG Top Brigade HQ
  • URI Field Supply Depot
  • Derangyari Artillery Gun Position
  • An S-400 air defence system stationed in Adampur by a JF-17 equipped with hypersonic missiles (likely in reference to the CM-400AKG).
  • A BrahMos supersonic-cruising missile (SSCM) site in Beas.

In a first in any recent conflict, Pakistan also claimed to have undertaken a cyberattack that it alleges temporarily shut down 70% of India’s powergrid.
